Animal Behavior Conference registration deadline 5/13

The deadline to register for the 16th annual IU Animal Behavior Conference is Friday, March 13.

PhD admissions for Fall 2009 closed

1/13/09

The PhD admission process for Fall 2009 is now closed. Applications are no longer being accepted. The next application season is for Fall 2010 and the deadlines are December 1, 2009 for international students and December 15, 2009 for domestic students. We do not offer spring admission. Thank you and have a good semester.


INSTRUCTORS: Scheduling make-up exams

To all instructors in Psychological & Brain Sciences: Please note that room 231A, the make-up testing room in the undergraduate advising suite, will only be available during advising office hours. This week's schedule is as follows:

Monday & Tuesday: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m.
Wednesday: 8 a.m.-11:30 p.m. and 1:30-5 p.m.
Thursday & Friday: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m.

There are six seats available on a first-come, first-served basis. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of exam administration, including starting and stopping the exam; test distribution and collection; and monitoring the students. Contact the advising office at 855-2152 with questions.


PY605 course moved for fall semester

Network with psychology alumni Dave Pfenninger, entrepreneur and founder of Performance Assessment Network, Inc. and Greg Lamb, Vice President of Sales and Business Development of DyKnow; they have been where you are now.

GRANT WRITER NEEDED FOR FALL

Grant available to study abroad

Students are encouraged to apply for Fulbright Grants for Graduate Study Abroad for the 2009-10 grant period. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is designed to give recent B.S. and B.A. graduates, master's and doctoral candidates and young professionals and artists opportunities for personal development and international experience.

Projects may include university coursework, independent library or field research and special projects. Complete program details are available at fulbrightonline.org/us.

Students enrolled at Iu must submit applications to the IU Program Advisor at 201 N. Indiana Ave. by 5 p.m. Monday, September 15. Applicants will be interviewed by a committee in late September and early October.


Professionals needed to speak in new class

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is seeking alumni and other professionals to speak to students in the new "Taking Psychology To Business" course.

The purpose of the new class is to show students the ways in which their training in psychology might help them in the business world. We also want to give students the opportunity to interact with business professionals before entering the job market. If you think that you might have some interest in speaking to the class either this fall or sometime in the future, please contact either Jim Craig or Linda Hoke Sinex.

Psi Chi taking 'Daffodil Days' orders

The Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology is participating in Daffodil Days, an American Cancer Society program to raise funds for the fight against cancer.

Members will be on hand in the lobby of the psychology building in the late morning and early afternoon to take orders. You may also leave your payment with the main office staff. The following daffodil orders are available:

Bunch of 10 daffodils: $10 donation
Bouquet in vase: $15 donation
Bouquet delivered to anonymous cancer patient: $25 donation

Psi Chi will accept either cash or checks made payable to either "The American Cancer Society" or "Psi Chi Indiana University."

Daffodil orders will include a tag in memory of Dr. Robert Weiskopf, former clinical psychologist and professor. Weiskopf died of brain cancer in June at age 60.

The deadline for orders is Friday, March 7. Daffodils will be delivered Monday, March 24.


Spots still open for alumni event

Attention local alumni: The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is hosting its annual Alumni & Student Dinner this month. The dinner will be Wednesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. in the President's Room at the Indiana Memorial Union.

Several spots are still available for this event. We are looking for alumni in various career fields to come and discuss career options with current undergraduate students.

Deadline approaching for capstone program

2/11/08

Applications for the Psychology/Neuroscience Capstone Undergraduate Research program are due by 5 p.m. March 24 to the Undergraduate Advising Office (PY 229) or the Program in Neuroscience office (PY 343).

Applicants must be enrolled in 3 credit hours of P493 or P494 during either summer session, must commit to ten weeks of full-time lab work and cannot have any other employment during that period.
