Doctor of Philosophy Degree Requirements

Ninety semester hours of graduate work are required for the Ph.D. degree. An overall graduate GPA of 3.3 or better must be maintained. Before being admitted to candidacy for the Ph.D. degree, students must pass their qualifying examination, taken during the fifth semester of graduate school. The examination has both written and oral sections. After the student passes the examination, the student, with the help of a research committee, plans and executes a doctoral dissertation and defends it at a final oral examination.

Candidates for the Ph.D. in clinical science must complete an internship of one full year in an approved institution in addition to the requirements listed above.
