Departmental Awards for Graduate Students
Notice: For any award (internal/external) that requires departmental approval or ranking, students must contact the Chair's office at least one week in advance of the official deadline. Otherwise, departmental review and approval may not occur.
Irving J. Saltzman Graduate Student Award
The Saltzman award is named for the late Dr. Irving J. Saltzman. Dr. Saltzman was a long-time faculty member of the department and served as Chair for several years. This award is given to a student who has recently completed his or her PhD in Psychology and recognizes excellence or distinction in research, teaching, and service.
Award Value: ~$1000.00.
Procedure: Faculty nominate students in the spring (around March) and the department's Student Awards Committee selects the recipient.
J.R. Kantor Graduate Award
The J.R. Kantor Graduate Award is named for the late Dr. Jacob Robert Kantor. Dr. Kantor was a prominent systematic psychologist who organized scientific values into a coherent system of psychology. He was a faculty member in the department for approximately 39 years. This award is given to a current graduate student in Psychology and recognizes excellence or distinction in research, teaching, and service.
Award Value: ~$300.00
Procedure: Faculty nominate students in the spring (around March) and the department's Student Awards Committee selects the recipient.

Future Faculty Teaching Fellowships (FFTF)
FFT Fellowships
For advanced IU Bloomington doctoral and MFA students to enhance their
career preparation by experiencing faculty life in another academic
environment, either within and outside of Indiana.
Grant in Aid
IU Grant in Aid Program
For advanced Bloomington graduate students with unusual research
expenses; maximum one 1,000 award.
The Esther Kinsley Master's Thesis Fellowship
Master's Thesis Fellowship
Must have completed Master's Thesis during the previous academic year;
one $500 award.
The Esther Kinsley Ph.D. Thesis Fellowship
PhD Thesis Fellowship
Must have completed Ph.D. degree during the previous academic year; one $1,000 award.
The Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowship
Liebmann Fellowship
Mrs. Liebmann was the daughter of Krikor Zohrab, a prominent Armenian intellectual, writer and statesman. She supported students and educational and charitable organizations during her lifetime. Tuition plus a yearly
living stipend of $18000; must demonstrate financial need; some restrictions apply.
The Wells Graduate Fellowship
Wells Graduate Fellowship
One doctoral student doctoral or M.F.A. student who exemplifies the
characteristics of Chancellor Wells; single-year award of $30,000 that
must be used the year it is granted.

The College Graduate Office administers the following:

College of Arts and Sciences Student Travel Fund
The graduate division awards travel grants twice each year (in October and April) from funds raised by the College's Development Office. Graduate students who have been invited to present papers at national or international conferences and who have been recommended by their chairs or graduate directors are eligible for consideration.
