The mission of the Office of Overseas Study is to promote study abroad by Indiana University students through participation in quality programs in a wide range of disciplines. As the most effective and dramatic experience by which students can achieve international and intercultural learning, study abroad will contribute significantly to careers in all fields of specialization and should be an integral part of undergraduate education at Indiana University.

The Office of Overseas Studies facilitates the IU study abroad experiences of over 2,000 students on all eight Indiana University campuses, and gives more than $100,000 in need and merit-based scholarships annually and works to ensure programs remain affordable.

The Hutton International Experiences Program (IEP) awards grants to help students experience the ways of other peoples and the sights and tastes of other cultures. International experiences can be shaped in many ways including participation in a study abroad program for a summer, semester or year, with travel outside the borders of the host city; participation in research or creative projects or vocational internships in countries around the world; or participation in service projects in foreign countries. IEP grants are made on a competitive basis - you must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA or 3.70 major GPA to apply for this award.
