The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences offers:
    • P199 - Planning Your Psychology Career is a 1-credit course required for all psychology majors. We encourage you to enroll in your sophomore year! P199 encourages students to take action to explore careers and to get involved on campus and in the community to gain career-relevant experience. Students can learn about and practice job search skills (informational interviews, resumes, networking, interviewing) and plan for graduate school. One key goal - making sure you are connected with advisors and career development resources you can work with throughout your undergraduate years.
    • P299 - Sophomore Honors Seminar is a 3-credit course that introduces motivated, high-achieving sophomore Psychology and Neuroscience majors to laboratory research in the Department, to help students find a place in a laboratory assisting with research, in preparation for doing an honor’s thesis. The seminar will include information about the honors thesis process, and weekly faculty guest speakers presenting their research. Students will gain experience reading research reports, and writing research summaries. Permission of course instructor is required; applications are available in the Psychology & Neuroscience Advising Office. You don't have to be in the Hutton Honors College to take the class, but it does count for Hutton Honors College credit. P299 satisfies the departmental career class requirement, so if you take it, you are not required to take P199.
    • Taking Psychology to Business. Offered as an occasional course in Topics in Psychology (P457), this course explores the many connections between psychological science and business. This course is a complement to P199, but it will not satisfy the departmental career class requirement.

Career Development Center and Arts & Sciences Career Services offers career development courses for all students in the College of Arts and Sciences:

Kelley School of Business Undergraduate Career Services offers two career development courses. If you register for either course you will have access to UCS resources. If you are planning on a career in business - and especially if you are working toward a business degree or certificate as an IU undergraduate - you may find these courses very useful.
